Unexplained Infertility

About one in seven couples in developed countries and one in 10 couples in developing countries (10%) 1 experience infertility (not becoming pregnant after about a year of trying). Although the term infertility is commonly used, for most people the more accurate term is subfertility, as relatively few people are totally infertile. In Spain and Sweden, Germany and Greece, the total fertility rate--or the average number of children that a woman based on current indicators, is expected to give birth to--was 1.4 or lower last year, according to the World Health Organization ... In no west European country did the rate reach 2.1--the marker that, demographers say, means an exact replenishment of the population. By contrast, the United States had a 2.0 rate, which demographers attribute to greater immigration.

Premenstrual symptoms or Premenstrual dysphoric disorder

Menstrual Pain Relief
Most estimates hold that 70-90% of women experience premenstrual symptoms at some point during their childbearing years. Of this group, an estimated 30-40% have PMS, with symptoms debilitating enough to interfere at least somewhat with daily living activities. Only 3-7% of women have PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). So what exactly is the difference between PMS and PMDD?

"A current generally accepted definition of PMS by the gynecological community is psychological and physical symptoms that occur for up to two weeks prior to menses - with relief by the end of the menstrual period - which are moderate to severe in nature and which interfere with daily functioning. "PMDD is sort of the severe end of the PMS continuum," adds Roca. "Women with PMDD actually have impairment in either social or occupational functioning. For these women, it's fairly consistent. Most months they are impaired."

Fertility and Acupuncture

Since the aim of Chinese Medicine is to "normalize," "harmonize," and "to bring into balance," these ideas are brought to bear on the problems associated with male and female infertility.

This is achieved by manipulating the flow of

Qi using acupuncture, and using Chinese herbs to nourish, support and strengthen the Qi and the Vital fluids (including Blood), as well as the internal organs. Thus the possibility of conception is optimized.
For Western women, in particular those who have delayed childbearing to establish career and/or relationship, these concepts are especially pertinent. Contemporary women are often depleted (especially of kidney yin, yang, and essence, the "root" energy) and have constrained energy (liver Qi) that causes blockages, particularly in the pelvis. Earlier in her life these blockages may have presented as painful menstrual cramps, endometriosis, fibroid tumors, PMS symptoms, etc.

Word about Cloning

How to cope with your abuser?
Sometimes it looks hopeless. There are two types of cloning. One involves harvesting stem cells from embryos ("therapeutic cloning"). These are the biological equivalent of a template. They can develop into any kind of mature functional cell and thus help cure many degenerative and auto-immune diseases.

The other kind of cloning is much derided in popular culture - and elsewhere - as the harbinger of a Brave, New World. A nucleus from any cell of a donor is embedded in an egg whose own nucleus has been removed. The egg is then implanted in a woman's womb and a cloned baby is born nine months later. Biologically, the cloned infant is a replica of the donor.

Cloning is often confused with other advances in bio-medicine and bio-engineering - such as genetic selection. It cannot - in itself - be used to produce "perfect humans" or select sex or other traits. Hence, some of the arguments against cloning are either specious or fuelled by ignorance.

Sodium

Description
Known to most people in the form of table salt, sodium is one of the minerals that the body needs in relatively large quantities. Mankind's taste for sodium reaches far back into the distant past. Much like today, sodium was popular in antiquity as a food preservative and an ingredient in snacks. In some ancient societies, sodium was even used as a form of currency.

In modern times, most Americans and other Westerners consume far too much of the mineral, and it is easy to see why. One obvious culprit is table salt, which has a high sodium content. The mineral is also found in many of America's favorite foods (or the chemicals used to preserve those foods). Sodium can be found in potato chips and a variety of other snacks, processed foods, meat, fish, butter and margarine, soft drinks, dairy products, canned vegetables, and bread, just to name a few sources. A single slice of pizza can supply the body with all the sodium it needs for one day (about 500 mg), while a teaspoon of table salt contains four times that amount.

A certain intake of sodium is considered essential to life. The mineral is a vital component of all bodily fluids, including blood and sweat. Often working in combination with other minerals such as potassium, sodium helps to manage the distribution and pH balance of these fluids inside the body and plays an important role in blood pressure regulation. Sodium is referred to as an electrolyte because it possesses a mild electrical charge when dissolved in bodily fluids. Due to this charge, sufficient amounts of the mineral are necessary for the normal functioning of nerve transmissions and muscle contractions. Sodium also helps the body to retain water and prevent dehydration, and may have some activity as an antibacterial.

The important benefits associated with sodium become apparent in cases of sodium deficiency, which is relatively uncommon. People who suffer from low sodium levels may experience a wide range of bothersome or serious health problems, including digestive disorders, muscle twitching or weakness, memory loss, fatigue, and lack of concentration or appetite. Arthritis may also develop. These problems usually occur when fluids that belong in the bloodstream take a wrong turn and enter cells.

Iodine

In the past, little credit for iodine has been given. Except for thyroid problems, iodine has been used in bygone years as the main ingredient in cough syrup along with glycerine.

Iodine is an essential trace element for humans. The average adult body contains between 20 and 50 mg iodine, and more than 60 percent of this is concentrated in the thyroid gland situated at the base of the neck. The rest is in thyroid hormones in the blood, ovaries and muscles. Worldwide soil distribution of iodine is extremely variable and food grown in areas of low iodine does not contain enough of the mineral to meet requirements. Such areas include a band across the middle of the USA, the Midlands and South West England, and areas of China, Continental Europe, Russia and South America.

The number of body processes benefited by iodine in the diet are manifold. Some examples are as follows:

Hormones

Thyroid Assist for Hypothyroidism, No Side Effects - $ 36.95
ThyroidAssist is a 100% natural, safe and effective herbal remedy that contains herbs that have been carefully selected for their beneficial effect on thyroid functioning, as well as on overall systemic health. ThyroidAssist helps to restore healthy thyroid functioning; treats iodine deficiency causing hypothyroidism; ensures adequate production of thyroid hormones; assists with depression, fatigue, constipation, weight gain and other symptoms associated with hypothyroidism.

Hormones are biochemical messengers that regulate physiological events in living organisms. More than 100 hormones have been identified in humans. Hormones are secreted by endocrine (ductless) glands such as the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, the pineal gland, the thyroid, the parathyroid, the thymus, the adrenals, the pancreas, the ovaries, and the testes. Hormones are secreted directly into the blood stream, where they travel to target tissues and modulate digestion, growth, maturation, reproduction, and homeostasis. Hormones do not fall into any one chemical category, but most are either protein molecules or steroid molecules. These biological managers keep the body systems functioning over the long term and help maintain health. The study of hormones is called endocrinology.

Immunity

Nearly every cell, organ and tissue in the body is involved either directly or indirectly in the immune process. From the outside in, the skin and mucous membranes offer the first line of defense. The skin provides a magnificent and nearly impenetrable shield against most microorganisms. The ingenious design in which dead skin (epidermis) is placed over the live and active skin (the dermis and subcutaneous tissue) protects the live skin from damage and easy invasion. Although some microorganisms are able to enter the body through the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, the acid pH of sweat and sebaceous secretions, and the presence of various fatty acids and enzymes minimize their ability to penetrate and create infections.

Water Fluoridation: Critical View

Of late we’ve once again learned that health officials sometimes change their minds
about what is considered healthy and safe. The recent warnings from FDA about
previously-FDA-approved pain medications and over-the-counter diet aids and cough
suppressants demonstrate this.

Have you ever wondered what medications and health practices we accept today will later
be known to have harmed us, rather than helped us? Here is one practice whose reversal
is just around the corner: fluoridating our drinking water to prevent cavities. We’ve
said for fifty-plus years that fluoride is safe, effective, and necessary. But now
information is pouring in from around the world and the U.S. that shows that
fluoridated drinking water may actually be causing many of the diseases we’ve come to
call “diseases of aging.” Included are hip fractures, thyroid disease, and joint pain,
as well as several other disorders that affect persons of all ages.

Prevent and cure atherosclerosis

In 1990 Dr. Linus Pauling was awarded a patent for his therapy that, he claimed, could prevent and cure atherosclerosis by using oral or intravenous dosages of vitamin C, other antioxidant vitamins, and amino acids.

Dr. Pauling’s research discovered that atherosclerosis starts with mechanical damage to your coronary arteries.  Because these arteries are so close to your heart, they undergo tremendous pressure swings that force them to expand and contract 70 times a minute.  This stress inevitably results in damage to the lining of your coronary arteries.  This is not a problem if your body has the resources available to make the proper repairs.  But, if your body runs out of these resources, it can not make the proper repairs.

Aspartame

Aspartame is one of the most carcinogenic chemicals commonly used today,

and you will find it in drinks such as diet colas and the artificial sweeteners

you find in supermarkets in the sugar section.  Aspartame is more toxic

than some narcotic drugs, yet it is legal. Aspartame is used in more than

9000 products yet it has been linked to asthma, cancer, multiple sclerosis

symptoms, anxiety, impotence, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, and more.

In fact, it is linked to at least about 18 serious diseases or conditions

and many other minor ones.

Toxins in our Home

Seventy thousand (70,000) new chemicals have been introduced since WWII.1 Today, thousands of these chemicals are appearing innocuously on the shelves of your grocery store. Merely because they are for sale on the grocery store shelves, you assume these products are safe for you and your family — but they are not.

Toxic chemicals in our home cleaning and personal care products are three times more likely to cause cancer than outside pollutants.

According to Environmental Scientist Michael Wisner, there are numerous types of toxins that we may bring into our own homes unwittingly that can be absorbed into the body. “There are common sense things one can do to reduce the toxic exposure in one’s home,” says Wisner. “For example, if you leave your shoes at the door before walking into your house, you can reduce you and your family’s exposure to lead by 40%.

Cancer Alternative Treatments

The keys to our inherent health and healing are vital to invoke for true healing to be able to occur. In The Journal of Clinical Oncology, in an article entitled "Must We Kill to Cure?," it was noted that "the host response [that is, the patient's immune response] is critical and determines long term survival." What are these inherent keys? Well, as noted, the immune system is the most critical key, And this vast system relies on many other keys: spiritual focus, a solid nutritional strategy, a sound endocrine system, relaxation approaches and stress reduction, and eliminating toxic loads to our bodies and minds. No wonder embarking on a path to heal from cancer is typically so life changing!Since there is no single, consistent definition of alternative medicine in the published literature or in the mind of the public, the researchers based their survey on the "domains" of alternative medicine described by the National Institutes of Health's National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. To streamline the survey process, the researchers collapsed the domains into three subgroups:

-- alternative providers (such as acupuncturists, massage therapists,

naturopathic doctors or homeopathic physicians);

-- dietary supplements (vitamin, mineral, herbal or other supplements,

such as shark cartilage); and

-- "other" therapies (diet or physical activity; mental and spiritual

therapies such as prayer, meditation and support groups; and energetic

interventions such as crystals and magnets).

Patients were considered a user of alternative medicine if they received care from an alternative provider within the past year or had used at least one alternative supplement or therapy.

Hearth Attack

Definition

A heart attack is the death of, or damage to, part of the heart muscle because the supply of blood to the heart muscle is severely reduced or stopped.

Description

Heart attack is the leading cause of death in the world. Most heart attacks are the end result of years of silent but progressive coronary artery disease, which can be prevented in many people. A heart attack is often the first symptom of coronary artery disease. According to the American Heart Association, 63% of women and 48% of men who died suddenly of coronary artery disease had no previous symptoms. Heart attacks are also called myocardial infarctions (MIs-The technical term for heart attack. Myocardial means heart muscle and infarction means death of tissue from lack of oxygen).

Mucus

Our breath is our basic source of vitality

The quantity and quality of the air we take into our lungs is affected to some degree by the amount of mucus, which obstructs the passages of the respiratory system. Also, when there is excess mucus congesting these passageways, there is also a greater possibility for the growth of microbes.

A certain amount of mucus (mucous secretion) lining is necessary for the protection of the membranes of the respiratory and digestive systems. It serves as a fluid transportation system, which also carries microbes and foreign particles out of the body.

It also protects the walls of the digestive system from acidic digestive juices which would erode them. The movement of a thin layer of mucus acts like a continuously moving conveyer belt, which carries microbes, viruses and other undesirable particles out of the body. If there is a deficiency, then we have the danger of ulcers.

Orgasm

"If women become more aware of what works for them when they do reach orgasm, then they can make sure it happens when they want it to," says psychologist Lonnie Barbach, Ph.d., author of The Erotic Edge. Erotica for Couples (Dutton, 1994). It's about paying attention to yourself, learning what you respond to and feeling entitled to create the right mood and moves to guarantee pleasure. To ensure orgasm every time, say sex therapists, you have to take an active role in defining your sex life with your mate--instead of just letting him lead the way.

Alcoholism and the treatment

Alcoholism, also known as alcohol dependence or addiction, is considered a disease that includes alcohol craving, along with continued drinking, despite repeated alcohol-related problems--family/relational problems (early), losing a job or having legal troubles (late).

It is characterized by four symptoms: * Craving--A strong need or compulsion to drink that characterizes psychological dependence. * Impaired control--The inability to limit one's drinking on any given occasion. Those who are alcohol dependent are unable to not take the first drink; they can't predict when they will drink and when they won't, and they cannot predict how much they will drink. * Tolerance--The need for increasing amounts of alcohol in order to achieve a desired effect. * Physical dependence--Brain counteradaptations that develop with chronic alcohol abuse and produce withdrawal-associated changes such as nausea, sweating, anxiety, fluctuations of blood pressure, and shakiness or tremors when alcohol use is abruptly stopped.

Alcohol Effect on the body

For the first time in years, I went to see a doctor. I try to avoid doctors because I consider them to be people who will tell me that I am diseased, rather than people who heal.

Anyway, the doctor asked me about my alcohol consumption, which I already knew to be way too high. On that particular day, I had tasted six wines the night before and drunk a shot of very nice tequila for breakfast (I was interviewing someone about his new off-licence--it wasn't my fault), so I drew a deep breath and confessed to 30 units a week. "You do know it should be no more than 14," said my doctor. I nodded, and no more was said. But it prompted me to look at some of the short-term effects (I could not face the long-term ones) that alcohol has on the body.
