Cleansing The Immune System
We live in a highly toxic environment. We are surrounded by synthetic chemicals and materials and as a result are in a state of constant poisoning. Even our healthy food is sprayed and contaminated.

Many people suffer from heavy metal poisoning and we all breathe polluted air. The solution is, of course, to work on cleaning the environment; something we, as individuals, can only contribute toward, but cannot fully control. This is a war, and you, the victim, are losing the battle. Your only real solution is to seize command and resist this affray by taking control over your body.

To free your body of impurities and build your Immune system it is absolutely imperative to do as much cleansing and detoxifying as feasible. Increased toxicity in our body is debilitating and we become increasingly run down over time, and more susceptible to disease. Lifestyle changes are essential to this ‘cleansing’ process. Unfortunately we have found that most people who seek advice, in an attempt to make changes, are people who have been propelled into action by serious illness. One wonders what it would take to get the greater number of people to make significant changes without being prompted by illness?


Lifestyle changes include dietary changes, regular physical exercise, meditation (and/or relaxation) and periodic or constant herbal cleansing. Some basic guidelines include eating organic,preservative free foods only.

Maintaining a very low fat diet, high in whole grains and fibers,with plenty of dark leafy green vegetables. A person in good health, who has a well balanced diet and uses good quality organic foods, should get all they need by way of vitamins and minerals and that person would probably not require much in the way of commercial supplements. People with compromised Immune systems, however, often need considerable supplementation and should seek professional advice. We caution against fad products and those of inferior quality, often marketed through multi-level companies, where the focus is mostly on numbers of sales. Before we built our cities of cement, our ancestors would rely on the land. Many cultures picked fresh herbs to include in their daily food regimen.

We consider herbal cleansing as basic nutrition and part of our food diet. Unfortunately we continue to be captivated by altered products. Our taste buds are no longer attracted to bitter tastes and yet these are the tastes that stimulate our digestion to release the required enzymes.

We recommend herbal cleansing for a month at a time, at every change of season. To facilitate a perfect cleanse use herbs in the freshest possible form.

In our opinion the best way to cleanse with herbs is to use fresh bulk teas or capsules containing fresh herbs. Avoid tablets and if you are using tinctured herbs, be aware that they are tinctured mostly in alcohol.

We recommend a program that includes a blood purifier with herbs such as Red Clover Blossom, Echinacea, Burdock Root, Hyssop,Alfalfa, Nettles, Prickly Ash. The colon and Liver are most important in this detoxifying process and the herbs taken are best when used together with the blood purifying herbs. Good herbs for the colon and liver would include Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Gentian, Yellow Dock, and Fenugreek. It is always a good idea to add slippery elm to coat and protect the intestinal lining.For a laxative effect you can add a very small amount of Cascara Segrada. It’s a good ideato obtain the advice of an herbalist before adding laxative ingredients. Herbs for cleaning the kidneys are Uva-Ursi, Horsetail, Juniper Berries, and Buchu a South African herb).

It is also important to consider herbs for building the body such as Damiana, Gotu Kola, Ginkgo, Fo-Ti, Ginkgo Biloba, and Ginseng. This is an example of one way of formulating herbs to maximize their synergistic effect, for a gentle, yet powerful cleanse.

A one time cleansing is rendered useless without regular cleansing. If you follow this type of seasonal program, after two years you will see dramatic results. Also, your herbal program is as good as the herbs you use, so be sure to shop for the best quality organic and fresh herbs only!
