Weight loss programs that don't work
·
Phen/Fen: Lose weight then have a stroke or a heart attack!
·
Herbal Life and other pills like it: First you need to know exactly what you are putting into your body, and some of these products don't have the ingredients listed on the labels. Some common ingredients of these products, such as ma huang, can cause heart problems, high blood pressure, etc. as well as have bad interactions with medications. On the other hand there are also positive results with herballife or any other diet, so we recommend to be individually tested.
·
Pyruvate: It reduces your ability to gain weight. It does not help you lose weight.
·
Chromium picolinate: There is no scientific evidence (or personal evidence) to support that it actually causes weight loss.

Benefits of milk
The average person drink 400 glasses of milk a year. That's more than 25 gallons.
Milk is the ideal post-workout food, "It has literally the perfect combination of amino acids for building new muscle cells and repairing muscle damage after a workout," says Kristine Clark, Ph.D., R.D., director of sports nutrition at Penn State.
The average cow produces 90 glasses of milk each day, or about 200,000 glasses of milk in her lifetime.
Milk contains a type of naturally occurring fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has been shown to help protect against cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
Pre-made chocolate milk's got seaweed in it, (The stuff's called carrageenan. It thickens the milk so the cocoa particles don't sink to the bottom of the jug. It's safe to eat.)
Men need 1,000 mg of calcium a day. That's the equivalent of three 8-oz glasses of milk daily.

Healthy Sweeteners
Before detailing the sweetener resources, there are two general points that are very important to consider.
General Sweetener Points
1. I believe that it is helpful to get comfortable with a number of different sweeteners. You can focus on one or two main sweeteners and use others to add a little variety to your food. For healing and disease prevention it is preferable to use the safer sweeteners listed below in relatively *small* amounts and primarily not near mealtime.
2. I believe that while it is very important not to be too restrictive in a diet, it can be helpful to use sweeteners that contribute to health-building. I am a big believer in gradually and comfortably moving towards a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Are Oils Fattening?
1. The human body is made from food, air and water. Our cells and tissues at a molecular level are literally constructed from what we put into our bodies. The quality and stability of the body is reflected by the quality of what we put into it. So,it follows that the quality of our health will be reflected largely by the quality of the food we eat.
2. Research has revealed that 45 ingredients are "essential" in the sense that we absolutely must have them to survive because our bodies can not make them from other substances and so we must obtain them from an outside source (either food or supplementation). Deficiency in these ingredients will eventually lead to gradual deterioration in health which progresses to degeneration of the body and early death. These 45 ingredients include 20 minerals, 15 vitamins, 8 essential amino acids and 2 essential fatty acids. These are essential building blocks and we need optimum levels of all 45 ingredients every day.

Coffee and Health
Is coffee a tonic, or a toxic brew? If the question is confusing, so are the answers. Is it good or bad for your body? Does it cause cancer, PMS, and vitamin deficiency? Or is it a super antioxidant that prevents cirrhosis of the liver?

Java. I love it. I hate it. Every morning I pad into the kitchen and turmoil jumps out of my cupboard. Should I have a cup? Caf or decaf? A gravely voice intones in my head, "You shouldn't be drinking that possibly wicked black juice at all! You might get cancer or an ulcer or yell at the kids or have a nervous breakdown? Have a nice cup of broccoli-soy-seaweed juice or some other good cancer preventive." Then a whiny "Awwww come on? It can't be that bad! Tons of people drink gallons of coffee and they're OK. And mmmmm ... that lush bitter taste, the electric thrill of the zing! Come on? You'll get more done."

Chocolate: The Latest Health Food?
In a recent Dutch study, researchers compared the levels of antioxidant catechins in chocolate (Theobroma cacao L., Sterculiaceae) and black tea (Camellia sinensis [L.] Kuntze,Theaceae).
Catechins (a type of flavonoid or polyphenol) are commonly associated with tea, but are also found in red wine and a variety of other foods. Based on research with green tea, scientists believe that these compounds may play an important role in protecting against heart disease, cancer, and other health conditions.
In this study, a team of researchers analyzed levels of six major catechins in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and freshly brewed black tea. They found the highest level of total catechins in dark chocolate (53.5 mg per 100 g).

Eggs and Cholesterol

Eggs were stigmatized years ago as sources of cholesterol, but three medical studies in recent years have agreed that most consumers can eat four to 12 eggs per week without increasing their LDL cholesterol.
Even cholesterol-lowering diets allow moderate amounts of whole eggs. One large egg(50gr) contains about 190 milligrams of cholesterol (we should consume maximum of 300 milligrams per day of cholesterol). Most of the egg's cholesterol is in the egg yolk. There is no limit on egg whites, since they're cholesterol and fat-free.
More recent scientific research indicates that it might very well be saturated fat — more so than dietary cholesterol — that leads to high blood cholesterol. One large egg contains only 5 grams of total fat; of this fat, only 1.5 grams is saturated; polyunsaturates 0.8 g and monounsaturates 2.0 g .(By comparison, there are 5 grams of saturated fat in a lean hamburger.)

ASPARTAME: Artificial Sweetener, Real Killer
Aspartame is one of the most carcinogenic chemicals commonly used today,
and you will find it in drinks such as diet colas and the artificial sweeteners
you find in supermarkets in the sugar section. Aspartame is more toxic
than some narcotic drugs, yet it is legal. Aspartame is used in more than
9000 products yet it has been linked to asthma, cancer, multiple sclerosis
symptoms, anxiety, impotence, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, and more.
In fact, it is linked to at least about 18 serious diseases or conditions
and many other minor ones.
More than 9,000 different foods and pharmaceuticals now contain aspartame
and they do not even mention this on the label. The story of aspartame
and its creation is very interesting in a twisted way. If you look on
the Internet, you will find numerous articles and scientifically published
papers that clearly show the dangers of aspartame.

Apple Cider Venagar
Old Hippocrates Medicine
Following the old cliché, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," apples are one of the oldest, most nutritious foods on earth. They are rich in potassium, a mineral many of us are deficient in, and a deficiency that causes old age to creep upon us sooner. Calcium maintains our hard tissues such as bones, and potassium is the equivalent to the body’s soft tissues, keeping the body’s flesh and arteries soft and resilient.
Fresh, organic apples are used to make Apple Cider Vinegar, which contains necessary ingredients, such as enzymes, and life-stimulating minerals, mainly potassium, in a natural state. Besides being a natural stimulant for vitality, Apple Cider Vinegar cleanses and restores nutrients to the body so that the body can heal itself.

Apple a day keeps doctor away
Apples just make sense as a daily part of the human diet.
Our forebears instinctively came to that same conclusion and adopted the maxim, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." They did not understand on a physiological basis why apple consumption was associated with health. Modern scientific studies are unraveling the reasons.
Some of the research is epidemiological. Large populations are studied for their dietary habits, and correlations between food intake and health consequences are identified. Researchers also have the tools now to study how particular constituents in foods react at the molecular level within our cells to do us ill or good.

Easy Slimming Tips
1. Eat smaller more frequent meals - not only is your metabolism boosted every time you eat something, your body can more efficiently process smaller meals. Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, try to break them up into 5 or 6 smaller meals.
2. Drink more water - regular water intake helps to flush away waste products in the body. Get at least six to eight 8 oz. glasses per day. An easy way to do this is to keep a water bottle handy and drink from it frequently.
3. Be inefficient - do you need to go to the kitchen to get a couple of things? Break it up into to two trips even if you can do it in one. Being inefficient like this can easily double your activity level, burning calories without even trying.

Soy
With widespread concern about the possible unhealthy effects of commercial meat and cows' milk many more people than before are using soy products as substitutes for
animal products. Soy products are supposed to be
high protein, low calorie, devoid of cholesterol,
and easy to digest. The authors disagree on most
of these counts. Soybeans were one of the five sacred grains
in the Orient according to records dating
back to before 1134. Agricultural reports speak frequently
of using soybeans in crop rotation (to fix nitrogen and
thus improve soil fertility) but there is no indication
that soybeans were eaten until fermentation processes
were discovered, sometime around 440 BCE.
The first soy products eaten by people were tempeh,
natto, miso, and shoyu tamari. And it was not until
some centuries later (2nd century BCE) that the
process of making tofu was discovered.

Raw Food - Processed Food
Dead Foods vs. Living Foods
Can we be dead wrong about our theories on food? Our society is looking for the solution to our weight and health problems. You are looking for a way to live healthily and to have the body of your dreams. Are you not? Before you look for treasure in a forest, it is a good idea
to make sure that you are in the right forest in the first place. Otherwise,
the search is useless. And you know what? We are in the wrong forest! That is why nothing is working effectively, we are
struggling and punishing ourselves with torturous diets, and we are getting
into more weight problems and increasing disease.Have you ever seen an obese wild animal (domesticated
animals don’t count due to human influence)? I bet the answer is never. The only animals that get obese are human beings and domesticated animals (due to human influence). And this became a common problem only after the 1950s. Why is that? We will soon see.
